Lady Dawgs win homecoming matches over Glenrock, Rawlins

WHEATLAND – Friday began with team bonding riding the Homecoming float for the volleyball team and ended in a three-match sweep for all levels. The C-Team played well, finishing on top, the JV “swept the sheep” as one of the homecoming posters proclaimed, and the varsity played crisp and capped off the day with a three-set victory over Glenrock: 25-9, 25-6, 25-6.
Coach Nichols was a little worried about Saturday, as it is never easy traveling to Rawlins and getting off a bus to play. Especially after a long week of much deserved fun and activities. The Wheatland team was up to the challenge and pulled out another conference win in four sets: 25-20, 25-15, 20-25, and 25-11. It was a struggle at times, as Rawlins played with a lot of heart and determination, but strong net play and efficient hitting by Ayden Coates, Halle Mickelsen, and Karley Adams came in clutch down the stretch.
As usual, Camryn Mickelsen worked hard to deliver the ball to all her hitters and the back row just kept grinding, picking up out of system balls and doing their best to clean up our side of the net. Walking away with a victory before getting home in time for pictures, a quick bite, and some fun on the Homecoming dance floor was the mission, and the gals achieved it.
