Wheatland pool unveils upgrades for safe and fun swimming

WHEATLAND – The pool is open, and it has some upgrades, thanks to the Town of Wheatland and Parks and Recreation district. There had been several cracks in the concrete that needed fixed, and the town choose to make repairs utilizing an inter-glass pool resurface system that would also eliminate the need to paint the pool each year. The lane markings were made with tile, and the kiddie pool had the addition of anti-slip granules added to the resin to prevent slips and falls.
Mid-America Pool Renovation, Inc. installed the new system, a polymeric material which is engineered for the freeze-thaw climate, is resistant to pool chemicals, and its “inert surface” is advertised to reduce the quantity of chemicals needed to keep the pool sanitary.
The price tag for the project was $265,000. As pool owners, the Town of Wheatland paid $238,000; and Platte County Parks and Recreation District, as operators, paid $47,000.
The pool was filled the week of May 20, and some volunteer work by Colby Lebsac ensured the shallow end slide was repaired, according to the May minutes of the Platte County Parks and Rec.
