Guernsey State Park offers activities

GUERNSEY — Not just every community has a state park within a couple miles of their city limits.
If you’re looking for something different to do, Guernsey State Park is offering a summer full of events that take advantage of some of the park’s great features.
On June 15th, put on your hiking boots, grab your camera and be at the historic CCC museum by 9 a.m. for “Nature Photography Day.”

This is great opportunity to get some photos of wildlife, nature’s beauty and the scenic cliffs found in the park while hiking on one of the trails.
On June 22 from 1-3 p.m., meet at the Sandy Beach Boat Dock Day Use Area for “Paddle in the Park.” This is a great opportunity to learn basic paddling skills with paddleboards, kayaks and canoes. Lifejackets will be provided and the event is first come, first served.
On June 29th, get up your courage and come out to the lake to watch a screening of the thriller “Jaws.” And if you’re feeling real brave, bring along an innertube (or use one of the park’s) and watch while floating in the water. The movie is rated PG and anyone under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. (Not recommended for anyone under 13.) Show time is 8 p.m. and there is limited space. This event will also be held at the Sandy Beach Boat Ramp Day Use Area and opens at 7:30 p.m.
