WHEATLAND—The Wheatland Post 10 Lobos baseball team took their overall season record to 3-12 as they endured four straight losses this past week.
On May 28 they dropped a pair of games to Laramie, played at Cowboy Field.
The Lobos went down 5-2 in the first matchup. Ayden Lind went 2 for 2 at the plate. Cooper Mayer and Lorenzo Rojo drove in the two Lobo runs.
Wheatland scored the first two runs of the game in the top of the fourth inning, but Laramie came roaring back when they scored five of their own just three outs later.
Wheatland scored two runs on five hits. They collected three walks and had nine strikeouts.
Meyer took the loss for the Lobos, pitching three innings, throwing 59 pitches, including 33 strikes. Rojo relieved Meyer and pitched three innings, throwing 45 pitches including 27 strikes.
Laramie finished the game with five runs on six hits, two walks and five strike outs.
In the second game, Wheatland out-hit the Rangers 6-5 but it still wasn’t enough to get the runs they needed across the plate and Laramie took the game 6-3.
Wheatland jumped out to an early lead when a Laramie error allowed a run.

The Rangers captured the lead 4-1 in the bottom of the second when Jaymes Bailey singled, scoring one run, Dax Parvin grounded out but picked up an RBI and a Lobos error gave the Rangers two more runs.
Kenny Raser, Lind and Meyer each drove in a run for the Lobos. Wheatland made the most of their baserunning, picking up six stolen bases. They turned one double play in the game.
Wheatland scored three runs on six hits, collecting two walks and 12 strike outs.
Wheatland used three pitchers in the game. Starter Grant Goodrich took the loss, pitching three innings. Beckett Graves pitched 2.1 innings and Jacob McDaniel pitched to a pair of batters.
Laramie scored six runs on five hits, had five walks and three strike outs.
The weekend saw the Lobos head to Casper to take on the Drillers A team in a doubleheader. Unfortunately, the Lobos struggled to get runs across in either game and dropped both.
The Drillers jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the second inning and added 2 more in the third and the final two in the fourth to take the game 10-0.
Wheatland managed just two hits in the game. Mason Collar pitched all four innings, throwing 95 pitches (55 strikes) to 26 batters.
The Drillers scored 10 runs on nine hits, had seven walks and six strike outs.
In the second game, Wheatland got on the board right away, scoring two runs in the first inning when Lee Raser and Simon May scored on a passed ball and an error by the Drillers’ catcher.
That lead evaporated quickly when the Drillers answered with seven runs in the bottom of the inning.
They added two more in the second before the Lobos scored three in the top of the third, making the score 10-5 at that point.
Casper poured it on in the next three innings, getting two runs across in each to take the game by a 16-6 margin.
Goodrich took the pitching loss for the Lobos; Nilsson, Raser and Graves also worked from the mound for Wheatland.
Nolan Schaffner led the Lobo offense, going two for three at the plate. Schaffner and K. Raser stole multiple bases for the Lobos.
Up next is a doubleheader on Tuesday, June 4th as the Lobos take on Douglas.
