Leo Williamson, 82, passed away peacefully after a short hospitalization on Sunday, February 4, 2024 in Wheatland.
He was born in Wheatland on the Fourth of July, 1941 to Leo and Leona (Middleton) Williamson. Leo graduated from Wheatland High School in 1959.
In the early 1970’s, Leo managed Pamida stores all across Wyoming. He transferred to Torrington in 1976, and managed that store from the grand opening until he retired in 1993 at age 52. Throughout his career he earned numerous Pamida “Pro” awards for having one of the company’s most profitable stores. He was well respected and beloved by his employees, many of whom kept in touch well into his retirement. He moved back to his hometown of Wheatland in 1997.
Leo loved boating, camping, and country music. He was an avid fan of the Wyoming Cowboys and Denver Broncos football. Most of all, he enjoyed being with family, especially their annual summer gatherings at Wheatland Reservoir. He took pride in immaculately maintaining his home, yard, and flower gardens. If it involved spending time with his children or grandchildren, Leo was up for just about anything.
Leo is survived by his daughter, Christina Wiederspahn of Cheyenne; son, Brad (Suzette) of Nashville, Tennessee; granddaughter, Taylor Williamson; and grandson, Lane Williamson, both of Nashville; nieces, Tina (Bill) Walker of Wheatland, Beverly (Roger) Campbell of Cheyenne, Terisa Harmon of Casper, and Carolyn Williamson of Laramie; and nephew, David Williamson of Casper, as well as many extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Frank and Jimmy; and sister, Grace (Edmiston) Isabell.
The family will hold a private celebration of life at a future date.
