Rosemary Staats Young left to join her God and Maker on Feb. 28.
Rosemary was a rural resident of Westcliffe, Colo., from 1990 until 2018. She lived there during the spring, summer and fall months, spending winter in Sun City, Ariz.
Mrs. Young was born Aug. 20, 1923, in Cheyenne  to Margaret Kerr Staats and Russell Louis Staats. She lived in Chugwater until graduating from Chugwater High School in 1941. She attended the University of Wyoming for two years, then went to Children’s Hospital School of Nursing in Denver, Colo., graduating and becoming a registered nurse in June 1946.
She was married to James (Jim) Ellsworth Young on Mar. 12, 1945. At that time he was a LTJG in the US Navy Reserve in which he served during and after WWII. After the War the couple lived in eight different states as Jim worked as an engineer for Schlumberger Well Services. Rosemary practiced nursing until the birth of their daughters, Jean Marie and Carolyn. She returned to nursing after her daughters were grown.
Rosemary trusted Jesus Christ as Savior in 1934 at a Methodist Vacation Bible School in Chugwater. She was baptised at the Baptist Church, also in Chugwater, at the age of 12. She was a strong believer in Christ and served as a Sunday school teacher and in mission education at most of the churches her family attended.
Rosemary Young is survived by her two sisters, Joann Staats Nelson of Deer Lodge, Mont., and Nancy Staats Soltero of Oak Creek, Ariz., and her brother, John Staats of New Braunfels, Texas. Also  surviving is her daughter, Jean Marie Young Krueger, her companion since the death of her husband. She leaves two sons in law, Jean’s husband, Ted Krueger of Troy, N.Y., and daughter Carolyn’s husband, Bill Beck of Enid, Okla. She had four grandchildren, Elizabeth Anne, Susan Mae, William James and Russell Staats and six great grandchildren. Rosemary was predeceased by her beloved daughter, Carolyn, in 2008 and by her best friend and husband, Jim, the love of her long life, in 2011.
Internment will be at Chugwater Cemetery on a date to be announced close to Memorial Day this year. A memorial service will take place at the First Baptist Church of Westcliffe, Colo., in June, the date to be determined. Send memorials and condolences to Gorman Funeral Home, 1108 9th St., Wheatland, WY, 82201
May her light continue to shine through eternity.
