A funeral liturgy for Phyllis Marie Hayes, 83, will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, February 10, 2018 at the Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church in Wheatland, Wyoming with Father Tom Kadera as the celebrant. The Vigil for the deceased will be held at 7:00 P.M. Friday, February 9, 2018 at the Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church. Inurnment will be held at the Wheatland Cemetery.
Phyllis Hayes passed away Saturday, February 3, 2018 at the Cheyenne Regional Medical Center in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Phyllis was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She was born on December 24, 1934 in Casper, Wyoming the daughter of John and Lela (Schram) Clare. The family moved from Casper to Worland, Wyoming where she graduated high school and then went on to Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska where she graduated with a degree in radiology.
While attending college, she met the love of her life, Gene Hayes. They married on September 1, 1956, and began their life in Worland, Powell, and finally settled in Wheatland, where they raised five children.
Phyllis worked for many years at Wheatland Memorial Hospital in the radiology department as an x-ray technician. She was a very active member of her community and her church. After retiring, she enjoyed traveling with her husband, golfing, playing bridge with her friends, and spending countless hours with her children and their families.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Gene; her children, John (Tammy), Michelle (Matt), Patrick (Judy), Michael, Mary Clare (Scott); along with her ten grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and her brother, Charles (Camilla) Clare.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, John and Lela Clare and her brother, Jack Clare.
