It is with great sadness that the family of Benton Poynter Hale (Ben Hale) announces his passing, after a long illness, on April 30, 2018, in Youngtown, Arizona, at the age of 82 years.
Ben will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 55 years, Phyllis Ann (Bonney) Hale, and his children Roxanne (Hale) Drolet and her husband, Owen Drolet, and Ethan Hale and his wife, Tori Hale. Ben is also fondly remembered by his grandson Henry Hale Drolet.
Ben was predeceased by his sister LouEtta (Hale) Hoover and his son James Benton Hale.
Born in 1937 in Big Horn, Ben was the son of Elijah Benton Hale and Gladys Alene Poynter.  
He was a graduate at the Northern Arizona University at Flagstaff.
A longtime resident of Wheatland, Ben was a teacher for many years.  He taught typing, business law, intro to business and physical education at Wheatland High School, as well as coached a variety of sports in Wheatland;Glendo; Newcastle; Big Springs, Nebraska; and Springfield, Colorado, including basketball, football, golf and track.
He was particularly proud of turning around the Glendo Eagles boys basketball team in the late 1970s and moving the program closer to the state championships.
He was also the honored with multiple Wheatland High School Teacher of the Year awards.
