Seniors keep active with a variety of activities in August

WHEATLAND – The month of August was busy as far as activities for seniors goes, according to Carry Kafka, activities director for Services for Seniors, Inc. Events ranged from a fraud protection seminar by Amy Dannels and Alyssa Martin of Platte Valley Bank; 14 seniors attended a free movie viewing with freshly popped popcorn and treats; the largest attendance yet for weekly Bingo; cardio workout classes allowing participants to work at their own pace; and there was a “great turnout” for the Pinochle game on the last Friday of the month.
Kafka said there was also a “very much talked about” rock painting class held in three different sessions throughout August. Seniors were able to use their creative ability to paint rocks of all shapes and sizes.
“With the seasons changing along with the leaves, remember the Senior Activities Center has all kinds of fun, different activities each week,” Kafka said.
Monthly calendars are available at the main Services for Seniors building as well as the activities center. Seniors are encouraged to stop by for a cup of coffee and see what’s happening at any of the centers across the county.
“Once again, it’s truly the little things that matter the most,” Kafka concluded.
