Platte County hosts candidate forum with locally-focused discussions

Posted

WHEATLAND – On August 13th, the Platte County Chamber of Commerce and Platte County Economic Development (PCED) co-hosted a highly organized and well-attended Candidate Forum at 10th Street Social in Wheatland. The forum welcomed candidates from all levels of government, including federal, state, county, and local offices, offering a unique opportunity for constituents to hear directly from those running for office.
The evening was structured to ensure that each candidate had an equal opportunity to present their vision and respond to the community’s most pressing concerns. The forum began with candidates for state offices, followed by those running for county positions, and concluded with candidates from the local towns of Chugwater, Guernsey, and Wheatland.

Each candidate was given a five-minute limit to introduce themselves and share their vision for the future of Platte County. This time limit ensured that all voices were heard, and that the forum remained focused and efficient. The candidates were also provided with a list of carefully crafted questions in advance, designed to address the economic and developmental concerns most relevant to the community.
Following the formal presentations, the forum concluded with a Meet and Greet session, where attendees had the opportunity to engage directly with the candidates, ask additional questions, and discuss their concerns one-on-one.
The Chamber and PCED were pleased with the success of the forum, noting the high level of engagement from both the candidates and the public. The event provided a platform for candidates to clearly articulate their positions and plans, helping voters make informed decisions as they head to the polls.
As the election season progresses, the Platte County Chamber and PCED remain committed to fostering informed and active participation in the democratic process by continuing to offer opportunities for dialogue between voters and those seeking to represent them.
