Curtis Elliot Culver passed away on August 21, 2024, at Porter Adventist Hospital in Denver, Colorado surrounded by his wife, daughters, and family. He was born on August 11, 1958, in Portland, Maine to Aaron and Faye Culver. Curtis graduated from Cheyenne East High School in 1976. Curtis met the love of his life, Joni Cole, who made him a cherry pie. It was smooth sailing from then on and they married in 1981. From this union came four children, Mark, Michelle, Rachel, and Nicole. He worked as a school bus mechanic for Platte Country School District #1 for over 35 years.
In his earlier years, Curtis enjoyed dirt bike and motorcycle riding. Every summer, he enjoyed taking his family to Horseshoe Creek to camp with extended family where they would drive dune buggies all over the mountain side. He and his good friend, Sam Whitney, enjoyed driving their jacked-up truck in mud races throughout Wyoming.
Curtis was strong in his faith and was very involved in First Christian Church. He often played music there and frequently played banjo at the local nursing home. He was known for being kind and generous. There wasn’t a person he wouldn’t try to help. He often stopped to help those stranded on the side of the road. In his free time, he enjoyed working on cars, especially his ’64 Chevelle and his ’56 Chevy truck. He and his wife, Joni were inseparable. They loved spending time with their children, and he was very proud of them.
He is survived by his wife, Joni Culver; children, Michelle Tennant (Rick), Rachel Pearson, and Nicole Culver; grandchildren, Connor Pearson, Liam, Maddie, and Tali Tennant; siblings, Phillip Culver (Myrna) and Sharon Cole (Bob) and their children, grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Mark, and his parents, Aaron and Faye Culver. A Celebration of Life Service will take place on Thursday, August 29th at 10:30 a.m., at First Christian Church, with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Curtis’s name.
