WHS Cheer Team attends camp in Cheyenne

CHEYENNE - The Wheatland High School Cheer Team under the direction of Kitty Evans traveled to Cheyenne last weekend to participate in cheer camp with 4A schools as well as Flip’N Amped, a professional tumbling and stunt company that specializes in teaching cheer techniques and stunt safety. 16 participants from Wheatland attended the camp. By attending a training camp instead of competing at the Spirit Competition in Laramie this weekend all the kids were able to be involved versus just having 11 perform which is the requirement for competition.
“I’m undeniably proud of the team we were able to build over the past year. This year I was able to combine cheer and dance to create the Wheatland High School Spirit Program. I believe that constructing this united team of cheer and dance will help develop the program to enhance game days at WHS and establish these student athletes as the root of school spirit and team unity,” said Evans with pride.  “I look for this Spirit Program to be not only a place for cheerleaders and dancers but also and outlet for our student section and bulldog fans to show maximum support to our athletic department and WHS activities. It’s a privilege to introduce the WHS Spirit Program this year and I hope everyone is ready for some surprises we have coming up this basketball season.”
The new Dance Team will debut at the Boys Varsity Basketball game on Jan. 25.
