CHEYENNE — Wednesday, the Lobo varsity team traveled to face the Cheyenne Hawks in an eight-inning game where they lost 10-21.
The Lobos had a very strong third inning, producing nine runs while the Hawks were just able to drive in the same number in the eighth inning. Preuit, Mytch Pollock and John Sarad each contributed doubles among the team’s 15 hits.
The Lobos hosted the Black Hills Bombers over the weekend, posting a 2-1 record. In a nine-inning game Friday, the Lobos came up just short of a win with a final score of 10-11. Neither Lobo pitcher, Sarad or Pollock, gave up any walks with Ned Hageman contributing four hits.
The Lobos secured wins in both games Saturday, first game 16-6 and second game 11-7. Hageman remained on the mound all five innings for the first game. Of the 16 hits the Lobos recorded, Preuit and Joel Anderson each contributed a double and Pollock homered on a line drive to left field. Luke Anderson was the starting pitcher for the second game Saturday lasting five innings with zero walks. Each of the Lobos did great getting on base as Pollock led the hitting with a triple, along with Joel Anderson’s and Jared Leathers’ doubles.

The Lobo varsity team travels to Douglas for the Douglas Tournament Friday through Sunday.

The Lobo prep team posted a 1-1 record as they hosted the Laramie Marshals Wednesday night. The Lobos beat the Marshals 17-5 the first game and lost 6-13 in the second game. Kade Preuit went the full three innings in the first game with four strikeouts and only one walk. Hitting was contagious as all Lobos recorded at least one hit.  Jake Hicks and Austin Warren led the pack with three hits/three RBIs and two hits/four RBIs respectively. Jordan McDaniel started for the Lobos in the second game with JP Anderson throwing two innings of relief. Ora Borton led the offensive attack with two doubles and Ryland Petroski added two hits in the losing effort.
The Lobo prep team traveled to Scottsbluff on Thursday and Friday for the WESTCO Tournament where they faced three teams: Torrington Tigers, WESTCO and NoCo Roughnecks. The youth of the Lobo prep team was evident as Torrington’s senior Tigers won 13-1 and NoCo Roughnecks, No. 1 team from Berthoud, Colorado, won 21-0. Though they struggled getting hits on WESTCO’s pitcher Robbins as he took the 10-2 win, the Lobos were much more evenly matched against WESTCO. The entire tournament saw the Lobos improving their defense with only five errors, including an unassisted double play by Kade Preuit against the Roughnecks. The offense during the tournament was held in check as Warren and Hicks combined for seven of the team’s nine total hits.
The Lobo prep is currently scheduled to host Torrington for a doubleheader Thursday at the Legion Field, at 5 p.m. and 7  p.m.
