GUERNSEY — They were down by four at the end of the first quarter. They reduced it to just one by halftime. With one quarter to go, the Lady Vikings found themselves on the short end of a 28-34 score and with just eight minutes to go and a season record that showed just two notches in the win column, things didn’t look great. But this time, it would go their way the Lady Vikes outscored the Lady Miners 20-12 in the final quarter to take a 48-42 win, especially rewarding as it was the seniors final game in the Viking gym. For the first time, the Lady Vikes had two players hit double-doubles.
Junior forward Whitney Martin was on fire from the start, scoring 21 points, 11 of them in the final quarter. She finished with 13 rebounds, an assist, two steals and one blocked shot in her best game of the season.
Trinity Ayers, another junior forward, pitched in 12 points, hitting four of eight from the stripe and took down 10 rebounds.
Senior guard Lakin Reichert hit a pair of treys for six points, one of those a key bucket in the final minutes. She had three rebounds, a steal and an assist.
Junior guard Blake Rose added five points and sophomore guard Krista Malcom put in four points, all fourth-quarter free-throws. She grabbed three rebounds and four steals and added an assist.

AS a team, they hit 10 of 31 two-point shots and three of 15 treys. The hit 19 of 32 free-throw attempts and took down 35 rebounds (16 offensive). The had 12 steals and six assists. They committed 20 turnovers and 22 fouls.
On Saturday, the Lady Vikes played their final regular season game at Rock River. The Lady Longhorns prevailed in that one, 48-27.
Blake Rose finished with 15 points, five rebounds and four steals.
Trinity Ayers finished with four points and four rebounds.
Krista Malcom, Laken Reichert and Whitney Martin each had two points. Malcom had two rebounds, two assists and two steals. Reichert had one rebound and Martin had six rebounds, two steals and one blocked shot.
Kacy McCoid and Bailey Martin each added a free-throw. McCoid had four rebounds and Martin had three rebounds and a steal.
As a team, the Lady Vikings hit eight of 22 two-point shots, two of nine three-pointers and five of 16 free-throws. They had 25 rebounds (10 offensive), 10 steals and three assists. They committed 26 turnovers and 13 fouls.
The Lady Vikes will take on Arvada Clearmont Thursday in their opening round game of the regional tournament at Douglas. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m. The winner will take on the winner of the Hanna-Elk Mountain/Hulett game on Friday at 7 p.m. The losers of those games will face each other in a win-or-go-home matchup on Friday at noon.
