DOUGLAS – The Douglas track meet was postponed last week due to weather, taking place on Monday morning. The sunny weather was more conducive for Wheatland athletes Desirae Iacovetto, Laynie Goertz, Maggie Hicks, and Lily Nichols as they broke another school record for the sprint medley with a time of 4:16.60. The previous time of 4:43.45 was set in 2021 by Kayla Beaman, Mylie Benson, Kaylese Knez, and Lily Nichols.

Iacovetto broke the 200-meter dash record at the April 12 track meet in Burns with a time of 25.42 to beat Rachel Battershell’s 25.70. The WHS 4x100-meter relay record of 50.60 was broken April 1 at the Cheyenne East track meet by the 2024 team Goertz, Emma Kaushagen, Kacey Otero and Iacovetto.

Look for full results from the Douglas meet in next week’s issue of the Record-Times.
