Guernsey-Sunrise boys fall in two

GUERNSEY—The Guernsey-Sunrise Vikings dropped a pair of games over the past weekend with a 52-34 loss to Midwest and a 51-32 loss to Lusk on Saturday afternoon. 

Stats for the Midwest game were not available at press time.

The Vikings struggled against a 7-9 Lusk team, one of their 2-A opponents. 

Sophomore guard Alex Delgado had nine points, a rebound, an assist and a pair of steals to lead the Viking scoring.  Senior forward Dale Mote pitched in eight points and had three rebounds and three steals.  Sophomore Ryan Harms had five points, six rebounds and a steal.  Freshman guard Justin Malcom finished with four points and had three rebounds and an assist. 

Senior forward Garret Oneyear pitched in three points and had five rebounds and a steal.  Freshman forward Brock Hohnholt had a bucket and one rebounds, an assist and two steals.     

Freshman forward Tate Stoneking had three rebounds and a an assist.

The Vikings hit 10 of 33 two-point shots and three of five from the arc.  They made three of 12 free-throw attempts and took down 24 rebounds (eight offensive).  They committed 20 fouls and 33 turnovers. 

This week, the Vikings host Rock River on Friday--both boys’ and girls’ games will be varsity only contests.  Girls will tip off at 4 p.m., followed by the boys at 5:30 p.m.  

On Saturday, the Vikes make the long road trip to Hulett.  The junior varsity games will begin at 1 p.m., followed by the varsity girls at 2;30 p.m. and the varsity boys at 4 p.m.
