Donna Jean Wood, of Greeley, Colorado, formerly of Wheatland, Windsor, Colorado, and Longmont, Colorado, entered Heaven’s gate peacefully at home in Greeley on Saturday, July 21, 2018, after a brave battle with cancer. She was 76 years old.
Caring and compassionate, Donna was beloved by many. Her true devotion in life was to her faith in God, to her husband, David, to her children, grandchildren and siblings, and to countless friends. Her memory will live on forever in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her.
Donna Jean Linville was born in Kansas City, Missouri, on May 4, 1942. Her family later moved to Silt, Colorado, to Swisshome, Oregon, then to Grand Junction, Colorado, where she met and married David Romaine Wood on Oct. 15, 1957. Together they raised five children.
Donna had an unwavering faith in God, which showed through her kind and gentle spirit and great devotion to God, family and the people whom she loved so dearly. She was spiritual director to many through her involvement with the Episcopal diocese of Colorado. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Greeley and was a member of Daughters of the King. She wrote a spiritual blog, and many spiritual articles. She loved music and was a longtime member of the choir. Donna enjoyed knitting, researching genealogy and gardening. She leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter, to be carried on by those who survive.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, the Rev. David Romaine Wood, of Greeley. They have four surviving children: David Romaine Wood Jr. and his wife, Rita, of Columbia, Maryland, and their children Anna and Noah; Wendell Barrett Wood and his wife, Heather, of Windsor, Colorado, and their children Ashley, Brooke, Denver and Luke; Kimberley Alice (Wood) Jeffords, of Wyoming, and her children Jeremy and Samantha; Kelly Leanne Wood, of Colorado, and her children Meagan, Nikki and Zach. Donna and David have 14 great-grandchildren.
Donna has six brothers and sisters, all of whom survive: Deanna Sands, of Grand Junction, Colorado; Bill Linville (Sherry), of Flagstaff, Arizona; Mike Linville, of Palisade, Colorado; Nancy Seeley (Ralph), of Cedaredge, Colorado; Penny Davis (Bill), of Grand Junction; and Phillip Linville, of Grand Junction.
Donna was predeceased by her parents Donald and Betty Linville and a son, Douglas Mitchell Wood, who is survived by his son Nicholas Wood, of Kansas.
Services celebrating her life will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church, 3800 W. 20th St., Greeley, CO 80634, on Saturday, Aug. 11, 2018, at 2 p.m. with Father Jack Stapleton officiating.
