A graveside service for Cecil Miller, 91, will be held Wednesday, May 29 at 10 a.m. at the Wheatland Cemetery with The Reverend Jill Zimmerschied officiating. Military honors will be accorded by Laramie Peak VFW Post 3558, Ora Call American Legion Post #10, and the United States Navy Honor Guard.
Cecil Miller died Saturday, May 18 at the Platte County Memorial Hospital in Wheatland.
Cecil was born Sunday, Feb. 12, 1928, in Sunrise the son of Julius William and Freda (Hohnholt) Miller. He was raised and educated in the Dwyer, Guernsey, Sunrise areas and graduated from Guernsey-Sunrise High School. After high school, Cecil served in the United States Navy, then returned to the Dwyer area to ranch and farm.
Cecil married Ruby Jean Lebsack on March 27, 1949 in Wheatland.
During his life, he enjoyed trap shooting, prairie dog hunting, fishing, and was very devoted to his wife, Ruby.
Cecil is survived by his son, Gary (Trina) Miller of Wheatland; sister, Ruth Metcalf of Denver, Colo.; granddaughters, Jennifer Hattan and Roberta Schultz; grandson, Tracy Hattan; great granddaughter, Aubree Hattan; and great grandson, Braysen Hattan.
He was preceded in death by his father on Dec. 11, 1965;  mother, on Nov. 14, 1978; his wife, Ruby Miller on July 10, 2011; son, Cecil Craig Miller on Dec. 1, 1975; and siblings, G.O. Miller, Alvin Miller, Vivian Hytrek, and Julietta Hardy.
Serving as pallbearers will be Doug DeRouchey, Mike Poulius, Bob Brockman, Don Chase, Doug Mosier, and Mick Farrar. Serving as honorary pallbearer will be Ben Cossman.

The Gorman Funeral Homes – Platte Chapel of Wheatland are in charge of the arrangements.
