Bulldog wrestlers struggle to find footing

WHEATLAND – Wheatland  wrestlers had their first home dual last Thursday night, facing Laramie. The Bulldogs scored 29 head to head match points, and 6 points by weight class forefeit. Laramie scored 18 head to head match points, but Wheatland gave up 18 points due to unfilled weightclasses and ultimately fell to the Plainsmen by a close margin, 34-35.
The Wheatland Bulldogs traveled to Douglas this weekend for the annual Shane Shatto Memorial Tournament where they faced some tough competition over the two day tournament. Seth DeWitt pulled out a first place win in the 160 pound weight class defeating all but one of his opponents by pins and winning by tech fall in his other match. Ryland Petroski secured a second place win for the JV team in the 145 pound division only giving up one point in the Championship round.
The team has an away dual in Mitchell on Thursday and heads to Torrington on Saturday for the Blazer Duals. Matches begin at 9 a.m. Jan. 21 they will travel to Newcastle.
