Prairie View Community School embraces innovative learning

CHUGWATER – Prairie View Community School (PVCS) is gearing up for an exciting second year, continuing its commitment to innovative education through project-based learning. Located in Chugwater, PVCS stands out by offering students real-world, hands-on learning experiences aimed at developing practical skills essential for their future.
At PVCS, students delve into subjects through projects that encourage public speaking, budgeting, teamwork, and collaboration, preparing them for challenges beyond the classroom. This approach culminates in fall and spring showcases, where the community is invited to attend and see the creativity and dedication students pour into their projects each semester.

Students dedicate specific time to a project based on a driving question, often from a need within our community. We believe this process gives real meaning to the learning the students are doing and creates skills that matter. Our showcases not only celebrate student achievements, but also show what happens when a school engages in personalized education.
PVCS also invites community involvement on various levels, including teaching elective courses, mentoring elementary students, and serving on committees that shape school policies and activities. This collaborative effort ensures that PVCS remains a vibrant hub of learning and community support.
Some notable additions to what PVCS offered last year include a unique school lunch program, independent of the National School Lunch Program (NSLP), and student transportation. Operating independently from NSLP gives us greater flexibility in meal options, portion sizes, and flavors, catering to diverse student preferences and dietary needs. Offering transportation reduces burdens on families who want to attend, and provides the option for students in the rural area to attend their school of choice. Our transportation service will run routes from both Wheatland and Cheyenne.
As Prairie View Community School embarks on its second year, it continues to redefine education with a focus on practical skills, community engagement, and personalized learning experiences that prepare students for success in a rapidly evolving world.
