Paul Dwight Bratt Jr. was born on Thursday, June 25, 1953 to Paul Dwight and Cora Mae (Hashman) Bratt Sr. in Alliance, Nebraska.
Dwight went home to be with his Lord Monday, September 16, 2024 at the Platte County Memorial Hospital in Wheatland. Dwight’s loved ones his wife, Cindy; nephew, Schuyler and niece-in-law, Rachel Bratt were by his side.
Dwight attended different rural schools Box Butte County and Dawes County through 8th grade. He went attended 9th grade through 12th grade at Crawford High School.
Dwight worked on the farm from 1973 to 1975. During that time, he went to work on a haying crew in the fall, from Oklahoma to Nebraska. He worked at the Chrysler Dealership in Crawford. On April 19, 1976 he went to work for BNSF Rail Road until August of 2011. He went out on disability. The jobs he performed were starting out as a maintenance track laborer for about a year. Then he worked equipment, front end loader, scrapers, and back hoes. He was at group one status. In 1977 he became a crane operator, then other machine jobs over the years. He would build bridges running a little back hoe in 1984 and 1985. His first time on a bridge crew he ran an excavator.
Dwight’s hobbies were collecting classic cars, hunting, fishing, metal work, smoking meats, and grilling. He enjoyed making his jalapeno poppers. He made many projects with iron. He had a 14x70 steal lathe and a bridgeport mill.
Dwight was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Stephen.
Dwight is survived by his nephews, Schuyler Charles Bratt and his wife Rachel (Walters) Bratt and Samuel Carl Bratt; two great nieces; and wife, Cindy Jean (Schultz) Bratt.
Cremation has taken place. Inurnment will be in Sunset Memorial Park in Scottsbluff Nebraska.
