One year Anniversary for The Wheatland Theater Cinema West

Posted

Wheatland- Cinema West Currently is running a matinee special. “This has been a super, super big success this year,” said Heather Ferguson. The First one that was shown had 56 people attend. They had a second showing the number of people that attended was 111. They are taking place Wednesdays and Thursdays at 3 p.m. through this summer until Aug. 9-10, $20 for a pass for the entire summer, child or an adult. “I have people come in and buy a pass for their kids then they buy a pass for their babysitter, I don’t care if it's the same person.” said Ferguson. What a Great idea to get passes for a child and babysitter, something for them to do on a rainy or very hot day in the summer.

“Now we know what we didn't know.” said Curtis Hofrock “When we opened this Cinema a year ago. “Not having been part of the theater industry at all, it has been a learning curve.”

They didn't realize how hard it was to get supplies, even just a simple candy. Their popcorn comes from Eastern Nebraska straight from a farm. Local businesses in the community have been amazing at helping them out with some of the cost for special events like the matinees.

Coming up Cinema west is working on adding Gaming to the Movie theater they have figured out how to put it onto the big screen. Thanks to the young staff, this is making us have more options for birthday activities!

Also Coming up July 3-4 at 6 p.m., Sound of Freedom. This movie is based on a true story. Right now, they are doing a fundraiser through Angel Studios called hashtag, something they are doing is 2 million for 2 million. This is to help raise money for children who are being trafficked. Tickets went on sale June 14, they are pre selling the ticket at the Cinema. “It's a big movie, the message behind it is important.” said Hofrock “and if you don't think you can watch it if you think that it's gonna be too much. I would encourage you to buy a ticket anyway because Angel Studios is doing a lot to put money behind putting a stop to trafficking.”

Cinema West would like to thank all of the local businesses that sponsored the matinee. These are Western Building Supply, Burns Insurance, Discount liquor, Gorman funeral home, Conrtney and Pinky Chesser Emporium Salon, First State Bank,Platte Valley Bank, Thrifty Foods, Laramie Peak Motors, Brown Company, Drube Home and RMC.
