WHEATLAND – Prayer for our nation, community, schools and state were spoken in group gatherings Thursday at the flagpoles of Wheatland Middle School, Wheatland High School and the Platte County Courthouse. All members of the community were welcome to participate. The noon gathering was in coordinated timing with other groups across the nation.
Traditionally, citizens have gathered to pray since the First Continental Congress of 1775, but in 1952 the National Day of Prayer was established as the first Thursday in May by the United States Congress. 2024 marks the 73rd National Day of Prayer and features the theme “Lift up the word (of God), light the world,” based on 2 Samuel 22:29 – 31.
