Lodging Tax incorrectly listed for November 7 ballot

Posted

PLATTE COUNTY — In a story published in the Guernsey Gazette and Platte County Record-Times last week, it was erroneously stated that the Platte County Lodging Tax would be one of the tax questions put before the voters in the upcoming election on November 7, 2023. The Lodging Tax will NOT be a part of the ballot in the November 7, 2023 election.  The Gazette and Record-Times sincerely regret the error.

According to Malcom Ervin, Platte County Clerk, there will be three sales tax questions posed to Platte County voters on November 7th but the Lodging Tax will NOT be one of them.  It is scheduled to be voted upon by Platte County voters in 2024 but his office has not received official word from the Lodging and Tourism Joint Powers Board of their desire to ask that question in 2024.

The three tax questions are for the Specific Purpose Excise Tax (6th Penny) and NOT for any other tax measure.
