CASPER — Several years ago, Alicia and Sam Watt realized Casper and the Wyoming area in general needed something they happened to be passionate about – a studio in which the creative art of glassblowing could be done. They were also aware of the need of suicide preveion for at-risk youth and veterans. Knowing the therapeutic benefits of the fascinating world of glass blowing, they decided to open the first glassblowing studio in Wyoming, the PH Glass Studio.
After reading about the new endeaver, a group of crafters from Wheatland took a field trip to see the studio and learn about the art of glassblowing for themselves.
“It was fascinating to watch a demonstration of a rod of colored borosilicate (Pyrex) glass transformed into a work of art – in this case, for the demonstration, a holder for an air plant,” Wheatland hobby crafter Cherie Wilson said.
PH Glass Studio offers classes to make many amazing pieces of art such as animals, unique pendants, marbles and much more. Alicia said they were excited to have received their 501c3 non profit status so they would be able to receive grants for at risk youth and veterans, providing a creative outlet for those in need.
Classes are available for beginners to seasoned artisans.
