Chugwater prepares for new leadership

CHUGWATER — The Record-Times was unfortunately absent from the most recent Chugwater Town Council meeting, but we were able to get a synopsis from Chugwater mayor, Carol Ash.

“We reviewed the Lead and Copper Rule that EPA has handed down which will cause a lot of work, money, and time to comply with,” Ash said. The Lead and Copper Rule (LCR) is a United States federal regulation that limits the concentration of lead and copper allowed in public drinking water at the consumer’s tap, as well as limiting the permissible amount of pipe corrosion occurring due to the water itself. As we have been made aware, the water and sewer issues in Chugwater are reaching critical mass.

“I felt a tremendous cooperation and courtesy from the crowd. Since I only have a few more months before I retire completely, my focus will be to identify folks who want to move into leadership and help dissimilate information to them so they can take office with their feet on the ground; there is much more than most initially see.”
