'Dawgs finish fourth at Douglas meet

DOUGLAS – The Wheatland boys’ track team scored 76.5 points and finished fourth in the Douglas Invitational meet held on April 22.

Douglas claimed the team title, scoring 276.5 points, followed by Newcastle (138), Sundance (84), and Rock River (7). 

Bryce Stenson finished fourth in the 100 Meter Dash with a time of 11.89. Cole Goertz was right on his heels, finishing sixth with a time of 11.97. Also competing were Simon May (12.05), Trevor Bashor (12.79), Brayden Durland (13.01), Braden Stenson (13.56) and Asibek Gofurjonov (13.6). First place went to Chase Holler of Douglas with a time of 11.43.

May took third in the 200 Meter Dash, clocking a 23.93. Ethan Jackson came in seventh with a time of 24.6. Others competing included Bashor (26.09), Durland (26.17), Clayton Dahlstedt (26.66) and Gofurjonov (28.93). Colton Vanderpool-Mobley of Newcastle took first with a time of 23.4.

Gavin May placed fourth in the 800 Meter Run, clocking 2:25.11. Tyler Murray finished seventh with a time of 2:35.05. John-Paul Dammeyer of Douglas took first in a time of 2:02.71.

May placed sixth in the 1600 Meter Run, clocking 5:34.44. Murray was right behind in seventh place, running 5:47.03. Tanner Johnson of Douglas finished first with a 4:37.13.

Wheatland’s 4x100 Meter Relay team (names not listed) claimed first with a time of 45.16. 

Jacob Miller tied for eighth place in the High Jump, clearing 5-08. Trennan Pearson of Douglas won the event with a height of 6-05.

Bryce Stenson picked up third in the Triple Jump marking 38-10.75. Parker Skeens of Sundance claimed first with a distance of 41-07.

Jackson topped the field in the Pole Vault with a height of 12-06. Dahlfeldt finished fourth at 10-06 and Weber cleared 8-06. 

Bode Stone placed sixth in the Discus with a throw of 103-03. Gabriel Castellanos finished eighth with a distance of 101-5. Caleb Fredericks threw a 76-04. Tegen Seeds of Douglas placed first with a mark of 150-06.

Stone took third in the Shot Put with a distance of 45-01.5. Castellanos finished seventh marking 37-05.5. Also competing were Fredericks (34-11) and Bryson Cook (30-07). 

Seeds of Douglas also won that event with a mark of 57-03.5.

Wheatland will head to Torrington on Friday, May 3 for their final regular season meet.
