Yancy Dean Fertig, 52, died in Lacey, Wash. on June 6. He was born March 7, 1968 in Faith, SD. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Fertig: children, Josiah Rayls, Jamian Fertig, and Joslin Fertig; and grandson, Matteo Rivera; all of Lacey, Wash.
Yancy served in the Army from 1999 to 2013 including 2001-2003 in Hanau, Germany; 2003-2205 in Baghad, Iraq; and 2005-2006 in Tallil, Iraq. He enjoyed making beautiful woodwork pieces and being with his family.
Yancy is also survived by his parents, Calvin and Mary Fertig of Wheatland; siblings, December (Rick) White of Spearfish, S.D.; Calvin Jr. (Patsy) Fertig of Glendo; Chris (Maria) Fertig of Bismarck, Ark.; Michelle (Delbert) Fulps of Rock Springs; and Autumn (Chad) Evans of Spearfish, S.D.; as well as nephews and nieces, a great nephew, and extended family.
Yancy was preceded in death by his grandparents, Alexander and Fern Fertig and John and Susan Millhouse; as well as his nephew Aaron White.
Yancy was laid to rest in the military section at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Lacey, Wash.
