WHEATLAND – The 2022 January Speaker Series will be held Thursday Jan. 27 from 6:30-7:30 pm. (MST). This is a free teaching and all you need to do is go to the website to register: https://wyfoodcoalition.org/
The topic for the January teaching is “Food Access Across the Lifespan” and will cover a wealth of information pertaining to healthy eating.
We’re looking forward to our first speaker series of 2022 and hope you’ll be able to join us,” said UW Ag Extension’s LeRoy Jons. “This month’s speaker series will focus on food assistance available in Wyoming, specifically through USDA funded state agencies. We have speakers representing several agencies that cover food assistance available throughout the lifespan.”
Women, Infants, and Children Program (WIC) will cover food assistance available through their program for pregnant women and children up to age 5, Head Start will talk about their services for access through early childhood, the Department of Education will talk about school age meals for K-12th grade, and the Department of Family Services will go over Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer (PEBT) and SNAP benefits available for qualifying families and adults, and the Cent$ible Nutrition Program will talk about the commodity program for seniors and educational services provided.
Each of these agencies is doing important work to make food more accessible in our communities. We will have time for questions at the end.
