The Wheatland and Guernsey communities will be treated to the musical talents of "Wyoming's Own." Be sure to check them out at the Platte County Fair parade on Aug. 5 in Wheatland and the Guernsey ice cream social on Sept. 9 in Guernsey.

The Wyoming Army National Guard’s 67th Army Band, also known as “Wyoming’s Own” performed several concerts in Cody, Wyoming, over the July Fourth weekend, entertaining more than 20,000 people over the two day period.

The band performed nine performances, an intense schedule that was facilitated by the 67th’s musical performance team concept. Sgt. Brandon Ormeroid, a trumpet player from Laramie, talked about one of the advantages of the performance team concept. “It is great to play with a smaller group. It really allows us to tailor our performance to have the best impact on the mission. We really get to have fun with it and get the right emotions flowing for the event.”

The concept of breaking the band into smaller teams is they can play different musical genres simultaneously in different locations. The varied musical performance teams played a mix of classical, marches, jazz, pop, rock, country, and ceremonial music.

Performances included the Cody Stampede Rodeo, the Buffalo Bill Historic Center 150th Anniversary celebration, the Cody Music Festival, a veterans memorial wreath laying ceremony, a Stampede luncheon, and marching in the Cody Stampede Parade.
