WHS girls drop two at regionals

DOUGLAS – The Wheatland Lady Bulldogs suffered two losses at the 3A East Regional Tournament, falling to Buffalo and Torrington and failing to reach the state tournament.

The Lady Bulldogs opened the tournament against No. 4 Buffalo, falling 53-11.

With a loss, Wheatland dropped to the consolation bracket to take on Torrington, who lost its first game against Worland, 45-28. The Lady Bulldogs started the contest on a 6-0 run, but Torrington got its wheels spinning and at the end of the first quarter, the Lady Blazers were up 12-6. By halftime, Torrington was up 25-13 and they cruised to the win over the Lady Bulldogs.

Full stats for either game were unavailable to the Record-Times at the press deadline.

Wheatland finished the season with a 3-19 record. Douglas, Buffalo, Worland and Rawlins are the four teams that advanced out of the 3A East Regional Tournament to compete at the state tournament this weekend in Casper.
