Dan Hansen Invitational
The Cheyenne Central Invitational was originally scheduled for Saturday, but was moved to Thursday because of weather concerns. Because of the change, the Bulldogs were able to add a second meet to the week, competing in the Dan Hansen Invitational in Sheridan on Saturday.
Smith was not done shining for the week, picking up another first-place finish in the 200 with a time of 22.45 seconds. He also secured another silver in the 100 (11.35 seconds).
In the high jump, Pearson snagged the bronze after clearing 6 feet, 2 inches. Decker Anderson was the final Bulldog boy to amass points, taking eighth in the discus with a throw of 108 feet, 3 inches.
The Wheatland boys finished eighth in the varsity team standings with 25 points. Natrona County won the team crown with 148 points, while Sheridan (136) and Kelly Walsh (77.5) rounded out the top-three schools.
Otero was the only Lady Bulldog to compete in the varsity ranks Saturday. Her best finish in her three events came in the long jump, where she finished eighth with a jump of 15 feet, 2.5 inches.
Otero’s one point put the Lady Bulldogs at 10th in the team standings, behind Kaycee’s two points. Sheridan also won the girls team crown with 163 points. Natrona County, with 115.33 points, and Kelly Walsh, with 100.5 points, completed the top-three.
In the JV ranks, Wheatland’s girls finished ninth with 25.5 points, with Elly Smith, Halle Smith and Christina Haroldson all earning points for the squad. Adam Suko was the only Bulldog boy to earn JV points, picking up one point to put Wheatland 13th.
