Which gates are you opening?

Life is a journey and every day I understand more clearly that on our Journey we have a choice as to which path we are going to take to complete it. The Bible clearly shows us the two paths set before every person. We need to be shown what the path of life is. You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore (Psalm 16:11).

This verse tells us that with the path of life comes the presence of God filled with joy and pleasure always. That is a huge promise, and it comes with a huge condition…IF we stay on the path of life!
The path of life leads to amazing things. With every path, there are gates to go through. We must choose to open the gate and deliberately choose life. First, this is done by receiving Jesus Christ as our personal Savior and Lord. I did this 32 years ago when I left the journey of darkness led by the devil and entered the journey of life led by Jesus.

Jesus says in Matthew 7:13-14 Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it. These are strong words and Jesus says FEW find it.
God has given us all a certain amount of time to journey here on this earth. When we keep opening the gate for the path of life, we will experience how our Lord keeps us from ALL the ways of destruction. But when we open the gate that leads to a wide path, we’ll find the ways of destruction lurking behind that gate. I do not want to follow the crowd down this path.
This world is full of temptations that look so appealing at the moment but in the end will destroy us. Many go for that wide gate…. If we are lacking joy, maybe we have left where our Lord wants us to go. We need to think about our life (because time is winding down) and ask ourselves, “What gate have I opened? The one leading to life, or the one leading to destruction?”
Gates open and close something! If the answer is not life, then get out of the destructive path and close that gate behind you! Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6).
