WHEATLAND – On Tuesday Jan. 21, the Bulldogs traveled to Newcastle to face Douglas, Torrington and Newcastle/Upton. Wheatland fell to Douglas 27-39, giving up 18 points in open weights. The Dawgs won against Torrington (45-24) and Newcastle/Upton (36-33).
Wheatland then traveled to Lander for the annual Lander Valley HS Invite Tournament where five of Wheatland’s wrestlers placed in the tournament. Seth DeWitt earned the champion title in the 160 pound weight class pinning the no.1, 3A ranked Luke Goncalves in the championship round. Keegan Meyer placed third at 138 pounds, Jake Hicks placed fifth at 132 pounds, Noah Whitfield placed sixth at 145 pounds, and Devin Weber placed sixth at 120 pounds.
The team heads to Riverton this weekend for the annual Ron Thon Memorial tournament.
