WHEATLAND –  The Bulldogs traveled to Cheyenne Jan. 2 to face off against Cheyenne Central, Cheyenne East and Moorcroft for the second time this season. Wheatland wrestled well against Central, earning all of their 30 points in head-to-head matches.

Central scored 18 match points and 30 forfeit points due to open weight classes for Wheatland. The Dawgs then had a tough match up against East with Devin Weber and Keegan Meyer earning a total of 6 points for the team and again giving up a substantial 48 forfeit points. To round out the day, Wheatland faced off against Moorcroft and both teams scored 18 head-to-head match points, however Moorcroft surpassed Wheatland in forfeit points.
This past week Wheatland was on the road twice, once to Laramie on Jan. 7 and again Jan. 8 to Ft. Laramie/Lingle HS for the Goshen Quad. Laramie overcame Wheatland in their Varsity matches, but the teams had a round robin following which gave the athletes extra matches.
On Friday, the Dawgs paired up against Burns/Pine Bluffs first and scored 24 head-to-head match points but fell to the opposing team's 18 match points combined with their 36 points from Wheatland's forfeits. The Bulldogs next matched up against Wright where they pulled off a win against their opponent, 32-30.
To finish out the day, Wheatland went head to head with Ft. Laramie-Lingle/Southeast where the Dawgs were 2 match points shy of another dual win, falling 34-36 to the home team. Wheatland earned a third place finish in the Goshen Quad.
