Due to the inclement weather, the Wheatland Memorial Day service was moved indoors to the Platte County Agriplex. Eve Peasely, recent graduate of Wheatland High School gives the reply to the poem “In Flanders Field” read by incoming WHS senior JP Anderson. Chuck Brown, American Legion Post #10 chaplain was the master of ceremonies for the memorial and Rick Anderson led a moving procession through the hall with all local military veterans. The National Anthem and America the Beautiful were played by Justin Herdt and he also took the pictures. The invocation was presented by Pastor Chris Furl of Memorial Baptist Church. Wyoming State Representative and Impact Ministries pastor Jeremy Haroldson was the special speaker. In addition, the Giele Family did a live song before the benediction and rifle salute. Taps was then played for the fallen. Chugwater also had a Memorial Day Service at 10 a.m. May 30. There has been a yearly Memorial Day Service at the cemetery church building 4 miles east of Chugwater for at least the past 64 years. A Missing Soldier service, and a gun salute and Taps at actual cemetery were held after the indoor service. There was also a community dinner at the Chugwater Community Center after the service.
