Wheatland man charged with sexual assault

WHEATLAND — A Wheatland man is facing sex assault charges in 8th Judicial District Court, according to court documents.
Court documents report Austin Scott Lee McClain, 20, of Antelope Drive, is charged with first-degree sexual assault and sexual exploitation of a child.
According to a criminal affidavit for probable cause filed June 18 in District Court by a Platte County Sheriff’s Department deputy, the deputy was dispatched to Platte County Memorial Hospital on June 17 to interview an underage girl there. The girl allegedly told the deputy she was forcibly sexually assaulted by McClain during the night of June 16-17.
If convicted on Count 1, first-degree sexual assault, McClain could face a sentence between 5-50 years in prison and/or a fine up to $10,000. Count 2, sexual exploitation of a child, could net a sentence of between 5-12 years in prison and/or a fine up to $10,000.
