WHEATLAND — West Elementary is currently holding a summer reading challenge for all students entering 5th grade for the 2017-2018 school year.
West Elementary is striving to encourage students to read during the summer with their “The Best of West” challenge. The challenge entails students and parents to record the number of pages read over the summer and log them on a recording sheet. They ask that the date, title of the book, starting page number, ending page number and total pages read are all logged. Recording sheets can be found on PCSD#1’s website, www.platte1.org. Filled out recording sheets should be submitted to the student’s 5th grade teacher on the first day of school.
The goal for students is to read 800-1200 pages over the summer. Students who meet this goal will celebrate with an ice cream party at the beginning of the school year. Students who read more than 1,200 pages will also receive a “The Best of West” T-shirt.
