WHEATLAND – Vicky L. Jons, 69, passed away at the Platte County Memorial Hospital in Wheatland on Wednesday, June 2, 2021.

Vicky Jons was born in Las Vegas, New Mexico, to Ralph and Grace Edwards on Wednesday, April 2, 1952. She attended Robertson High along with her sisters, Jane, Judy, Susan and Tammy. After graduation, she headed north to the University of Wyoming to obtain a nursing degree. It was there, through her roommate, Ellen (Jons) Shorma, that she met her partner in life and co-navigator, LeRoy Jons.

Their adventures took them to live in Australia, Washington, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico and multiple places in Wyoming. She acted with the grace and devotion that nurses do throughout her nursing career, which included Labor and Delivery, nursing homes and school nursing. After her nursing degree was used up, at least in her mind, she filled several roles including teacher’s aide, substitute teacher, childcare provider and greenhouse worker. She also volunteered for various need-based organizations. Getting her fingers in the dirt and helping the most vulnerable were some of her fondest memories.

During these life journeys, they added to their family two sons, Christopher and Darrin. She devoted all her time and energy into raising them to be the men that they have become. After they started their families, she found new love in helping and spending time with her “Bugs” (grandchildren); Mathew, Tessa, Bailey and Callen became the highlight of her life as she was in theirs.

Vicky was preceded in death by her father, Ralph and sister, Jane Edwards. She is survived by her husband, LeRoy; mother, Grace Edwards; sisters, Judy Gardner, Susan (Craig) Cockrell, and Tammy (Don) Parsons. She also leaves behind her sons, Chris, his wife, Tracy, and grandkids, Tessa and Callen, and Darrin, his wife Christy, and grandkids, Mathew and Bailey.

No services will be held.
