Two Lady Buffaloes compete in Wheatland

WHEATLAND – Led by Cyndee Fortick’s fifth-place finish in the long jump, the Chugwater girls track team took eighth in the team standings last Wednesday at the Wheatland Invitational.
Fortick had a 13-foot, 3-inch effort in the long jump to take fifth, earning four team points for the Lady Buffaloes.
Glenda Heckel was the other Chugwater girl to compete. She took 21st in the discus with a throw of 31 feet, 5 inches. In the 100-meter dash, her time of 20.17 seconds put her in the 18th slot.
The Lady Buffaloes finished with four points on the day, earning eighth in the team standings, just ahead of Glendo’s two points. Glenrock won the girls’ team title with 131 points, while Hanna-Elk Mountain and Wheatland had a tight battle for second and third. The Lady Miners had the edge, with 96 points, while the Lady Bulldogs finished with 95.5 points.
Chugwater returns to the track Friday for the Pine Bluffs Invitational.
