Town progresses on historic district

WHEATLAND — Professional historical consultants Bob and Betty Lu Rosenberg, of Cheyenne, will be in Wheatland over the next few months working with volunteers researching the town’s historic structures. The project is funded through a grant to the town of Wheatland from the National Park Service, via the Wyoming State Historic Preservation Office, private donations and in-kind services.
The consultants and volunteers will research historic records at the assessor’s office, the library and the museum, and take photographs of existing historic structures, both commercial and residential that are within the boundaries of the proposed historic district.  Their work will help determine if properties are historically significant and contribute to the community’s character, resulting in the designation of a downtown and/or residential historic district.
Members of the Wheatland Historic Preservation Commission include Linda Fabian, Dan Brecht, Joan McKee, Rick Robbins and town planner, Malcolm Ervin.  Other helping hands include Jose Plazola.  If you’re interested in doing some research for the project call 322-3014.
