WHEATLAND – The 2023 Total Spring Show was held at the Platte County Agriplex last Friday from noon – 6 p.m. and featured local Platte County businesses.

The venue was packed with all the things you needed for your home and garden and 42 vendors were on hand to encourage visitors to shop local.

The event had a food stand set up by the local Kiwanis Club who provided hot dogs and brats, snacks and beverages throughout the day. In addition, there were several high school groups that had set up tables to help educate people as to their organizations and to solicit funds to help their cause.

“This our second annual show,” said Brook Brockman who was on hand from JG Elliott and helped organize the event. “It used to be put on by Kent Smith several years ago, so we’re sort of resurrecting it. Last year we were kind of small, but this year we had a great array of vendors. Basically we want to show all of the local businesses and services in our area, Platte County and surrounding areas and we want to make sure that people are shopping local and using our local people.”

The show was showcasing and educating the people of Platte County as to what the local businesses and services had to offer.

“We’re finally getting some warmer weather and we wanted to feature spring stuff,” Brockman said. “Things like home and garden, farm and ranch, but we have a little bit of everything here. And we have lots of high school activity groups in the hallway doing fundraisers.”

The show attracted a lot of regular customers and some new faces and in the six hours there were hundreds of people who came through the doors to shop and educate themselves as to the advantages of shopping local.
