Stephanie Peltz passed away Friday, Feb.8 at her home near Wheatland.
Stephanie was born minutes after her twin brother on Aug. 3, 1943, the daughter of William and Mary (McKinnon) Kipp in Lancaster, N.H.
After her adventurous spirit spurred her to move west in 1964, Stephanie made fond memories working as a nanny and teaching in a one room schoolhouse in Birney, Mont. She met Hugh Peltz while attending Montana State University and the two married on Dec. 30, 1967 in her hometown of Lancaster.
She gave birth to her daughter and son at Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield, Calif. and the family moved to Wheatland in 1977. Stephanie worked as a teacher’s aide in local schools and was active in her church, the Platte County Fair, Library Board, Platte County Players, and many volunteer endeavors. Her loved ones valued her intellect, disarming sense of humor, creativity, and thoughtfulness.
Stephanie treasured life’s simple gifts and children, animals, books, baseball, religion, and music were among her many passions. A talented seamstress, writer, and pie maker, she cherished both her New England roots and living life in the West.
Stephanie is survived by her husband, Hugh; daughter, Mary (Steve) Peck; son, Hugh (Hilary) Peltz II; five grandchildren; brother, Charles Kipp; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and twin brother, Stephen Kipp.
Memorial donations made to Saint Joseph’s Children’s Home, PO Box 1117, Torrington, WY 82240, would be appreciated by the family.
