WHEATLAND — The Platte County Chamber of Commerce Whiskey and Vodka and Wine, Oh My! event Friday featured lots of wine and spirits tasting, food, music and visiting.
The Platte County Chamber Business of the Year Award was presented to South Street Pharmacy, Mike and Cindy Geile. The Geiles have been in business since 2010. They are a huge part of the community as business owners and caring people. They are very active in helping the people around them. They have been known to say they want to “live life by loving people.”
The second award of the evening, Community Builder of the Year, was presented to Chuck and Katie Brown. The Browns have volunteered and/or been elected to many boards and committees. If there is a civic or charitable board in the community, chances are one of them has been involved with it. They started their own equipment business in 1968 and over the past 50 years have grown their business into a nationwide company.
Four new board members were elected to the Chamber Board of Directors at the event as well. Tammy Gonzalez with Wheatland REA, Levi Clark with Platte Valley Bank and Jason Evans with CME Inc. join incumbent Sally Houx of Farm Bureau Financial Services on the board.
