WHEATLAND – Fourteen members of the Wheatland Bulldog Wrestling Team traveled to Rawlins last weekend to compete in the 3A East Regionals Dual. Schools attending were: Rawlins, Worland, Buffalo, Newcastle/Upton, Douglas, Wheatland, Torrington, Burns/Pine Bluffs.
Wheatland placed fifth with an overall score of 154 points. They will advance to the State Finals held this weekend in Casper.
Leading the team was junior Seth DeWitt who placed first in his 152 weight class. Second place finishers were Ethan Read and Devin Weber. Third place was taken by Wyatt Crane, Kye Hicks and Keegan Meyer. Drake Amundson took fourth place in the 145 weight class.
“They all wrestled individually really well. We would have placed higher as a team if we had not had so many byes in the first round. Even though we’re smal we are in the top three of the state,” explained coach Colt Goff. “I’m really blessed to work with some hardworking kids who are willing to work and improve.”
