Rodee Brow gets a full ride to Weber State University

WHEATLAND – Wheatland High School senior Rodee Brow has made an impact in four sports and many extra-curricular activities during his high school career.

A quiet and unassuming athlete, Brow let his talents on the athletic fields do his talking. He played both sides of the line in football, he was a starter on the basketball team, he was an outstanding cowboy for the rodeo team and perhaps his most noteworthy accomplishments came in track where he set the school record this year for the pole vault (15’) and was outstanding in other events.

Brow was a part of the boys 4 x 100-meter relay team who managed to best their previous school record by one, one-hundredth of a second with a new time of 44.15 in the regional tournament. The boys team consists of Hyannie Fausto, Kade Preuit, Jake Hicks and Brow. He was also able to improve on his 400-meter dash school record that he broke the week before regionals with a new time of 49.29.  This time also set a new 3A East regional record in the 400-meter dash.  The previous record was held by Chris Caskey of Douglas with a time of 49.65 set back in 1994.

“On top of all of this, Rodee was honored with being chosen as the 3A East Boys Track Athlete of the Year,” Hazen said. “A well-deserved honor.”

Brow is heading to Weber State University in Ogden, Utah, which is an NCAA D1 school that is just over six hours away from home. They offered him a full-ride scholarship and he said he is hoping to come back to see the football team in next year’s state championship game or at the least, a football playoff game in the western side of the state.

“I picked Weber because they reached out and I think it was the best option for me financially,” Brow said. “When I visited I really liked it there. When I went for the visit, they hadn’t made an offer yet, and when I got there they made their offer. I feel really good about it and am really excited.”

According to Brow, he is going to run the 100, the 200, the 400 and pole vault.

Brow’s sister, Danielle may also be in the mix to attend Weber State University next year which Brow said, “would really be cool.”

At the state track meet last weekend, Brow took first place in the 100-meter dash and the 400-meter dash; he was awarded all-state honors in both of these events as well. His time in the 400-meter dash also broke his previous school record, with a new time of 49.22. His second place finish in pole vault earned him all-state honors as well.
