Funeral Services for Robert Lee Lockman, 88, will be held Saturday, Oct. 13 at 10 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Wheatland with the Reverend Lincoln Winter officiating.
Robert Lockman passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 25 at the Platte County Legacy Home in Wheatland.
Robert was born on Monday, July 21, 1930 in Fort Collins, Colo. the son of Dave and Eva (Mitchell) Lockman.
Robert’s family moved to Wheatland in the mid-1930s where he attended school through the eighth grade. He then worked on the family farm until 1955. Robert married Shirley Weger and ran their own farm until the 1960’s when the family moved to town. He took a job at Settel’s Soft Water, eventually buying the business, renaming it Lockman’s Soft Water. He ran the business until the mid-1980s when he took a job with Kelly Bean as field supervisor, retiring in 1992. Robert and his second wife Lillie moved to Grand Junction, Colo. where he worked for 17 more years at a golf course. In 2009, after Lillie passed away, Robert returned to Wheatland where he enjoyed retired life and socializing over coffee with friends.  
Robert is survived by his children, Janet Johns and Kevin (Brenda) Lockman; eleven grandchildren, Mickie Lockman, Kevin Lockman, Elizabeth Lockman, David Lockman, James Johnson, Joseph Johns, Thomas Johns, Megan Suazo, James Felghny, Michael Felghny, and Shannon Felghny; and several great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wives Shirley Lockman and Lillie Lockman; brothers, Ben Lockman, Ray Lockman, Walter Lockman, Willard Lockman; sisters, Elizabeth Lockman, Mary Wolf, Laura Birkle, Irene Murray and Wilma Smith; and daughter, Mickie.
The Gorman Funeral Homes – Platte Chapel of Wheatland is in charge of the arrangements.
