Robert (Bob) Leroy Fletcher, 84, of Guernsey passed away Wednesday, Nov. 27 at the home of Tammy and Tom Reed in Dubois after a battle with cancer.  At Bob’s wish, he was cremated.  A Celebration of His Life will be held at 10 a.m. on Dec. 14 at the VFW in Guernsey.
Bob was born August 26, 1935 in Wheatland to Fred and Florence (Norris) Fletcher.  He was raised on the family ranch 20 miles north of Wheatland and with his interest in working with motorized equipment, he was able to persuade his father that there was something to use other than horse power.  His life work centered on using motorized and excavation equipment. He graduated from Guernsey High School in 1953. He married Doris Lawhead in 1959 and together they had two daughters, Sherry and Tammy.  He later married Marilyn (Bailey) Darnall on June 2, 1972.  Marilyn had two daughters, Sherry Lea and Peggy. Together they lovingly raised their four daughters in Guernsey.
Bob was employed by the National Guard for 12 years and Sunrise Mine for several years. He then purchased his first backhoe and became a self-employed excavator and a professional visitor who never met a stranger.  His interests with Marilyn included helping others, traveling and attending car shows with friends and their 1959 El Camino.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Marilyn, Brother Richard (Terri) Fletcher of Grand Prairie, Texas, sister Patricia (Bill) Olson of Hayward, Wis., daughters Sherry Lea (David) Wilson of Riverton, Peggy (Gary) Anderson of Guernsey, Sherry (Carl) Engler of Hudson and Tammy (Tom) Reed of Dubois. Grandchildren include Wendi (Greg) Werger of White Haven, Penn., Candi (Matt) King of Torrington, Tabitha (Les) Parker of Guernsey, Talon (Erik) Collar of Hartville, Derek (Luke Martin) Faller of Lincoln, Neb., Breanna (Jason) Peck of Lander, eleven great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and his beloved cat, Hudson. Preceding Bob in death were his parents and sister Delores McCann.
Memorial gifts may be made payable to VFW Post 4471 and mailed to Peggy Anderson, PO Box 401, Guernsey, WY  82214.
