Attend Putting the Landscape to Bed Presented by the University of Wyoming Extension Office, Colorado State University Extension, Master Gardeners and Colorado Master Gardeners on Oct. 6 from 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. at the Platte County Fairgrounds 4-H Building, 57 Antelope Gap Road, Wheatland.

Putting the Landscape to Bed with Extension and Master Gardeners

WHEATLAND — Proper planning and treatment of the landscape can make next spring a joy rather than a nightmare.
Attend Putting the Landscape to Bed Presented by the University of Wyoming Extension Office, Colorado State University Extension, Master Gardeners and Colorado Master Gardeners on Oct. 6 from 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. at the Platte County Fairgrounds 4-H Building, 57 Antelope Gap Road, Wheatland.
Registration is required for space is limited. Cost is $15 per person, which includes handouts and refreshments. Lunch is on your own.

Topics to be covered include:
General Garden Cleanup—deadheading, disease removal, debris removal and a general overview of why we need to put the garden to bed (how to accomplish this, different methods, etc.).
Vegetable Beds—what kind of cleanup is needed, turn the beds, adding manures and compost, green manures/cover crops; raised beds and how to prep them
Woody Plant Care—hardening off, wrapping, winter water, mulch, pruning for winter
Perennial Care—pruning pros & cons, propagating (division/layering), mulch, watering Season Extension—cold frames, row covers, frost cloths, etc.
Winterizing Turfgrass—fertilizer, aeration, winter watering and other miscellaneous chores going into winter
