Approved Record of the April 28, 2020 Proceedings of the Platte County Commissioners in Wheatland, WY – A Special Meeting of the Board of County Commissioners was called to order at 5:00 P.M.. The meeting was held via Zoom Video Conferencing to avoid congregating people to avoid the spread of the infectious disease COVID-19. The purpose of the meeting was to connect with each Platte County Department Head and Elected Official to obtain the status of their departments and to discuss the County’s response during the spread of COVID-19. The elected officials present were: Sandy Kontour, Commission Chairman; Malcolm Ervin, County Clerk; Kristi Rietz, County Treasurer; Danette Eppel, Assessor; and Mona McAuley, Clerk of District Court. Department heads present were: Nicole Sticka, Public Health; Terry Stevenson, Emergency Management; Beal Angle, Road & Bridge; Julie Henion, Library; Mary Evans and Stacy Bucholz, Ag. Extension. Members of the public present were: Merlin Hitt, Platte County Economic Development. Chairman Kontour asked each department to provide any updates they may have with their offices. Mr. Stevenson said ABC News had visited Platte County and spoke about that experience. Mr. Stevenson and Ms. Sticka spoke about Governor Gordon’s decision to extend certain public health orders until May 15th and his decision to begin loosening some restrictions. The loosening of restrictions required county health officers to become more involved and make county-level decisions based on guidelines established by the State of Wyoming. Dr. Steve Peasley is the Platte County Health Officer. Mr. Hitt informed the group that the Wyoming Business Council will host six workshops to help businesses understand the transition process. Mrs. Kontour said there would be another department head meeting, via Zoom, on Tuesday, May 5, 2020 at 5:00 PM. Mrs. Kontour did say that there could be a special meeting called before that date if Platte County has their first confirmed COVID-19 case.
